Position Title: Theater/Auditorium Manager

SUMMARY:
Under general supervision oversees and manages all theatre/auditorium operations in assigned high school. Coordination and implementation of all logistical and technical aspects of auditorium for school events, special district events, and outside rentals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages and operates major auditorium systems including lighting, sound and stage rigging.
- Assists in determining appropriate staffing needed for school, community, and rental events. Handles stage preparation, production coordination, and equipment needs.
- Assists in developing management objectives and action plans for maintaining and enhancing the auditorium facility and ensures they are put into practice equitably.
- Develops auditorium equipment needs and replacement schedules through a routine assessment of the condition of equipment and the theater/auditorium facility structure to maintain the theater’s peak operating condition. Reports malfunctions and repairs needed to adhere to OSHA and theater safety regulations.
- Provides technical theater training on use of equipment and theater production for student workers and theater stage tech class students.
- Maintains theater/auditorium inventory.
- Assist facility use officers in scheduling and contracts for theater/auditorium usage.
- Maintains and catalogs all technical manuals assuring that they are up to date for all equipment and production requirements.
- Serve as advising team member in decision making on specifications for new and replacement auditorium related equipment and IT purchases.
- Scheduling auditorium use for in-school, in-district and facility rental use.
- Participates in continuous high-quality professional development in order to enhance his/her professional growth and development.
- Works to achieve organizational goals in order to make the entire school a positive and productive learning environment for students.
- Meets organizational timelines and performs all assigned duties and activities in a timely manner.
- Develops and maintains positive relationship with school administration, faculty and staff members, and rental customers.
- Performs other duties as assigned by school principal.
- Able to work after typical school hours for evening performances as needed.
- Ensure the facility is prepared properly for planned events.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or higher
Minimum of three (3) years appropriate technical experience in theater management. Demonstrated experience and knowledge in technical aspects of sound board operation, lighting boards, stage rigging and general theater operations.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees the work of personnel hired to assist with events and rentals.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical manuals. Ability to effectively present professional development and training on theater equipment and operations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply basic concepts of statistical analysis, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to interpret and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work related issues and problems.
Recognizes and follows the appropriate procedures in the chain of command as designated by board policies and/or administrative procedures.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to operate a personal computer and related software.
Ability to use tools such as drills, lifts other electronic tools.
Knowledge of proper safety equipment usage.
Presents a positive image of the District/School at all times.
Ability to develop effective working relationships with staff, students, and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to develop effective working relationships with staff and district employees. Ability to implement a flexible work schedule to meet the reporting deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required. Ability to perform duties with a high level of detail and accuracy. Ability to self-monitor and manage multiple tasks while working individually and with members of a group.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as boxes and equipment. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as furniture or boxes of materials.
Walking, standing, climbing, typing, manipulation of light and sound boards, constructing theatre sets.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, listen and/or reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision. Some driving may be required. Duties of the job require frequent use of a computer monitor and related equipment.

Theater/auditorium environment with limited exposure to environmental conditions. The noise level in this environment is quiet to loud depending upon the activity in the particular part of the day. Frequent interruptions and immediate attention to unexpected situations are expected.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Stipend of $15,000 annually.
The terms of employment detailed in this job description are based on full time employment during the school year. Conditions of employment adjusted for part time employees or individuals who are hired for less than an entire school year.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job evaluated annually according to Board Policy.
