Position Title: Transportation Supervisor

SUMMARY:
Under limited supervision, plans and directs the Area Transportation Office by overseeing staff, scheduling, services and daily operations. Ensures all drivers are in compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations. Drive a school bus or monitor a school bus when needed or necessary. This position will supervise the RSM and Wagener area.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School or GED. Experience in general transportation operations plus specialized training/experience in office administration, bookkeeping and customer service.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must obtain and maintain a CDL and a School Bus Driver Certificate.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages 100 subordinate bus driver and sub/aide drivers. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these employees.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of district.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to interpret and apply common sense understanding in carrying out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work related issues and problems. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Personal Computer and spreadsheet skills. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

The terms of employment detailed in this job description are based on full time employment during the school year. Conditions of employment are adjusted for part time employees or individuals who are hired for less than an entire school year.

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually according to Board Policy.
